Devil's claw, also known as South Africa hook hemp, is a kind of ground vine that grows naturally in the namagua desert area of South Africa. Africans use tubers to relieve indigestion, fever and inflammation, relieve women's discomfort after childbirth, and for sprains, ulcers and scalds.
Until 1989, the German Commissione officially recognized its efficacy and approved it as a legal medicine to relieve rheumatism and indigestion.
